The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has been actively engaging in exposure tours aimed at enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of its members in the fi eld of public transportation. These tours serve as vital learning experiences, allowing participants to observe and absorb best practices from other regions.
In February 2022, AAPPTF undertook its 4th exposure tour to Goa, a vibrant coastal state known for its tourism-driven transport systems. This tour was generously sponsored by Shri Pema Khandu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. The primary objective was to study various transport-related disciplines and explore innovative approaches to public mobility.
During the Goa tour, the team interacted with local transport authorities, visited key infrastructure sites, and gained first hand experience of how transport systems are integrated with tourism and urban planning. The insights gathered were intended to inform future improvements in Arunachal Pradesh’s own transport framework.
Following this, in June 2022, AAPPTF organized another exposure tour to the picturesque districts of West Kameng and Tawang. This initiative was again supported by Shri Pema Khandu, Honourable Chief Minsiter of Arunachal Pradesh and Shri Vishal Gupta, a transport businessman from Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The West Kameng and Tawang tour focused on understanding transport logistics in mountainous terrain, including the challenges of connectivity, road safety, and sustainable mobility. The team also explored local innovations and community-driven transport solutions that could be adapted for use in Arunachal Pradesh. In September 2023, under the Dekho Apna Pradesh initiative, Team AAPPTF embarked on a multi-location exposure tour to Sikkim, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong. This tour was sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, as part of a broader eff ort to promote inter-state learning and cultural exchange.
The Dekho Apna Pradesh tour provided valuable exposure to transport systems in hill regions, including eco-friendly practices, last-mile connectivity, and tourism-integrated mobility. Participants observed how these states manage public transport in challenging topographies while maintaining environmental sustainability.
Throughout these tours, AAPPTF has demonstrated a strong commitment to capacity-building and collaborative learning. By engaging with experts, stakeholders, and local communities, the federation continues to evolve its understanding of transport systems and policy frameworks.
These initiatives reflect the vision of Shri Pema Khandu and other supporters to empower transport professionals in Arunachal Pradesh. The knowledge gained from these tours is expected to contribute meaningfully to the development of effi cient, inclusive, and sustainable transport solutions across the state.
